Our group has many talents, however, music is probably not one of our stronger suites. None the less, ministering at the local church means leading worship. I have quite a bit of musical background, though I would not say that I am proficient in any one instrument. However, playing the keyboard and singing lead voice has become my role as our unofficial team worship leader. Tara has uncovered her hidden talent in playing the guitar. Jessi is no longer a closet singer, while Zach has quite a bit of talent with the drums. Jes’s alto voice adds a nice balance to the mix, and there you have it, the Cinco Gringos, our band name.
It has been fun exploring all our or musical talents and lack there of…how many people does it take to tune a guitar, or maybe I should say “how many strings.” After we snapped two, we decided to wait until we could buy more strings…and get help. Oh, the frustration! I had a few old camp/worship song guitar tabs with me that we have been writing piano music for…add a few singers, a drummer and there you have it…the Cinco Gringos. It truly is amazing how the Lord can work through you, stretching you and growing you all to His glory! I truly believe that the Lord was glorified in our worship this month. Praise the Lord!
