“It’s not about you”- Holy Spirit

How often have you heard that? Well I have heard it about a million times, and I probably will hear it a gazillions more time.

It’s so easy to make everyday about ourselves, I mean I get it, Picking out toothpaste just became a decision about weather i want my dentist to like me, or to meet a nice man solely based on the level of white my teeth are.

We are constantly encouraged to ask ourselves; “what makes me happy?”, “how can i gain from this?”, “what will it coast me?”.

Or better yet.

“why did he just cut me off?”, “wow, her attitude ruined my day?”, “her outfit was so disrespectful?”

Let pause..

What makes you think you are that important?

listen close and i mean this with love,

most of the time  when something less desirable happens to you its not about you at all, so get of your me horse and join us in the get over it section, its much nicer. 😉

So here’s 2 points I want to make

1. Give people the benefit of the doubt.

2. Jesus knew that is was not Just about Him. (and i mean everything is about him, If he could live selflessly, i definitely have no excuse to live any differently)

What do I mean by #1.

I’ll keep it short.

When people do things that offend you often times there is no malice and your feelings were not regarded in the instance. They are acting upon previous emotions.

No one got up and said “I’m going to ruin Maggie day”, so if they cut me off in traffic or come off a little rude at the counter I’m going to assume that it not about me and move on.

I mean there are some wired instances that this may not be true, but we wont get into that.

Proverbs 4:25-27 Let your eyes look straight ahead; fix your gaze directly before you. Give careful thought to the paths for your feet and be steadfast in all your ways. Do not turn to the right or the left; keep your foot from evil.

#2. ooooooo yes let talk about how Jesus knew it was not about just Him.

Hebrews 2:9-11

Jesus knew that He had to taste death to bring his father glory, and to call the children of God brethren.

So He was able to face all the trail and tribulation in his life knowing that the relationship with God was worth it. Jesus also knew our lives depended on it.

Do you know you can speak life into someones heart, even is they plucked your strings,

so may choose a kind response or a loving gesture, their life might depend on it.
