there are so many instances in the Bible regarding love: God IS love, love your neighbors, whoever knows God knows love, etc. love is everywhere! and just like in the Bible, love should be everywhere in our lives.
in Hebrew, love is said “ahava” (my silly English computer won’t let me type the Hebrew letters lol)
1 Corinthians 16:14 says this: “do all your work in love”.
about 5 weeks ago, i started a new job. i am now forever engrained in saying “my pleasure” when someone says thank you because i am working at chick-fil-a – that’s right!!! the place where only the Lord’s calories are consumed. the place where calories don’t matter……..this is all besides the point though.
a little back story here: only a couple short years ago, i was convinced that i was not a people person. i did not like people, i preferred animals. (i still prefer hanging out with my dog most days, but that’s because he’s basically a human) i had decided that people suck. they’re mean, they’re difficult to be around and work with, they don’t care about others, etc. but this isn’t true. those people just need jesus. and as a disciple, it is my job to show these people the love and kindness of jesus that can fill their lives.
i’ve taken this as my mission, and in starting this new job, i have found how much i adore people. chick-fil-a staff members are known as nice people right? sometimes it’s because we have to, but for me it’s because i love it. so many people have so much crap going on in their lives that a simple smile or kind remark can give them a breath of fresh air and replenish their day.
not only customers though, my co-workers are my favorite people to love on. in my store, there are a lot of young kids that work there – like high schoolers. high schoolers are also sometimes difficult to work with. but the challenge is so fun.
i have 100% found this new job as a ministry platform. some people are so easy to love and work with and have a good time with, and others take more time and effort.
sometime WE are not easy to love, but the Lord chooses us and loves us every single stinkin day. and that is what we are called to do with the people in our lives.
im learning that loving everyone means loving people differently: some people need more patience, some need more encouragement, some need guidance, and some are just downright easy to love all around.
the Lord never said it would be easy, but He said it would be worth it and that He would be there every step of the way.
i have found such great excitement in learning to love all of these new people in my life and i have seen jesus transform my view of people and my role of being called to love and serve no matter what odd job i am doing.
what a journey this life of living for jesus is. and boy do i absolutely love it!
