So my last post may have seen really random. So here’s a bit of an update on my life.

I skipped writing about month 8 (Nicaragua) because way too much happened. And I got overwhelmed and was just enjoying itnso much that I kinda forgot to blog. And im a bit OCD so I didn’t want to move passed it until I did. (Truly the blog you got about Guatemala was an accident. I forgot that I hadn’t posted or written one for Nicaragua).

Anyway, let me catch you up

Nicaragua (month 8)

  • Planted 600 trees in an orchard with the vision that the owners can sell to locals for 1/2 market price and then they can be resold by locals, to locals, to earn their own income.
  • Sports Ministry, kids come out and play ‘soccer’ and baseball. Afterwords they get a message/bible lesson.
  • Feeding some locals and giving a bible message all at a local woman’s house because she started this and were just helping out.
  • Prison ministry. Just talking about life and struggles, doing so crafts, and a bible study for some of the guys. Actually some of the prisoners lead the bible study in their groups.
  • Parent Vision Trip. Basically mom came to visit and see me and see what I’ve walked in the past 8 months. It was great, there were tears.
  • I got baptised. I realized I hadn’t been, at least not of my own choosing, and it was one of my goals for the race. One of my Squad coached did it (Papa T).

Belize (month 10)

  • We stayed at an amazing guest house called Belmopan Base Camp. And our host connected us with Manny different opportunity’s.
  • Painting the pastors house. Except a pastor wasn’t moving in, long term missionaries from Africa were.
  • Doing VBS with some kids in one of the more rural Spanish communities. (And lots of ‘soccer’).
  • Going to an English Speaking church for the first time in months. Literally some of my squadmates were brought to tears.
  • Helping fix up a church building for a new church (the people) to move in fully and start using it in the ways they want.

Ft. Lauderdale, USA (month 11)

  • So our last month serving on the World Race was in the USA.
  • We were placed in homes of church members and they were basically the Host Family you may get if you studied abroad. They were great.
  • I did pastoral ministry at 1st Presbyterian:
  • Working with Youth Groups
  • Going the lunches with the senior adults
  • Helping out on Sundays with anything and everything for all 3 services.
  • Trying to figure out the crazy bus schedule (we were in charge of the church vans).
  • Having a baptism and reformation on the beach.

Honestly more happened in those months than what I can put in a blog. But I figured I’d fill in the last few months for congruency sake.

Since then (about November 21st) I’ve been visiting friends and family all around the east coast. And it’s been awesome and tiring.

In February I start a 3 month ‘externship’ with the Wildlife Center of Virginia. After that? We’ll see.
