Officially I’m Margaret but call me Maggie. I’m a 22 year old Biology graduate from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia. I’m really outgoing and love to read about anything. Books for fun, current research taking place, classics. No, I don’t actually like most classics. But anything else works. Most of my free time is spent catching up with friends or playing games together (sports, board games, etc.). And puzzles. Not jigsaw puzzles, though those are fun, but logic puzzles. Things that make you think and problem solve. Something I kinda miss since graduating college.
My family raised me Christian but not with any particular denomination in mind. I’ve been to about 7 different churches throughout my life and can’t tell you the denominations of most of them. it was never that important to me. As far as I was concerned no two people in the church thought the exact same thing in any of them so it never mattered.
I accepted Jesus as my savior when I was 4, and had a hard time after that. From what I remember I became fairly aggressive afterwords. I didn’t hurt anyone, I just had a really short fuse and bad attitude soon after. This isn’t the typical story of how children are saved. But my understanding of it was fairly simple. The Devil lost me and he wanted me back.
I am a scientist. I believe in facts. I am a christian I believe in faith. While I need (prefer) facts in every day life I have only needed two things to tell me God is real. The feelings and temptations I had right after accepting Jesus, and when i witnessed my first miracle.
While traveling through Brazil my missions group took a day trip to some waterfalls. it took 2 jeeps to carry us up the mountain to the falls. Awesome day! We used the rocks as a makeshift slide down the river. On the way back down the mountain the jeeps were fairly far apart. I was in the first. All of a sudden our jeep stopped working. I was 13 at the time so I wasn’t a bit part of the conversation to fix the jeep but I don’t remember anyone knowing specifically what was wrong. Just some guesses. Anyway, about 10 minutes after we had been stopped someone comes running down the road towards us. One of the girls from the other jeep had arrived. She told us that someone was having an allergic reaction, and we had the Epi-pen. None of us had phones and even if we did there was no cell coverage. If our jeep hadn’t stopped we would have kept driving. Luckily we sent a new runner (one who wasn’t about to collapse from exhaustion) back with the Epi-pen, and the girl was fine. Soon after out jeep began working and we continued our way home. I firmly believe that God stopped our car that day. And if he hadn’t then she may not have made it.
Also I love meeting with and talking to people do don’t be afraid to leave me a comment 🙂
