Our Squad arrived safely in Manila, Philippines after 2 days of travel and completely skipping September 10th. We stayed at Kids International Ministry until today and we will be starting work at our first ministry site tomorrow. The site is located in a dump/cemetary in Manila where 30,000 families are living–I just ask for prayers over my team as we begin working with them.
I have noticed that people worry about the thing they are least likely to experience. I was worried I would spend this year homesick and not taking in everything that God had planned for me. While leaving family and friends behind was tough, this past week has already flown by and we haven’t even begun working with our ministry.
The World Race has already included:
- A 45 person slumber party each night
- Walking 30 minutes to a shower one way
- A beautiful parking lot bucket baptism
- Backstreet Boys sing-alongs on the way to the airport
- Cramming six people onto a tricycle
- Doing the Soldier-boy dance in the middle of a Manila supermarket
- Visiting a young girls home and already seeing amazing things being done
