Shrek had it right when he said he was like an onion. I, too, am an onion…does that make me an ogre?? (Ask my team in a couple of months, I’m sure they’d love to give some feedback.)

Onions. Onions have skin, layers, and are sweet when heat is applied and maintained. Training Camp (TC) took 58 raw onions and began the process of peeling them and caramelizing them in the Holy Spirit. (That is probably the weirdest metaphor I have ever come up with…you’re welcome.)

In all seriousness, TC was a glimpse into the next year of my life and I could not be more excited! I get to walk in faith with a group of people with the common goal of bringing kingdom daily!

Because I have tried and failed to write this blog three times now, I will simply give a few fill-in the-blank statements followed by a list of words. This is the best way I know how to describe TC without writing a book.

“Training camp was _________.”

Long. Overwhelming. Joyful. Cold. Dirty. Informative. Spiritual. Stretching. Exciting. Full of laugher. Full of lessons. Inspiring. Motivational.

“After training camp I feel/have more ________ for the World Race.”

Spiritually equipped.  Awareness.  At peace.  Supported.  Perspective.  Community.  Excited. Anticipation.  Ready.

“The past two weeks were full of _________.”

Encountering the Lord personally. Wholehearted worship.  Dirt.  Hammocking.  Prayer.  Hills. Wearing the same pair of pants too many times to count.  Friends.  Snoring.  Laughter.  The Holy Spirit.  Authenticity.  Growth.

“I could not have survived training camp without ____________.”

My sleeping bag.  My eyemask. New friends. Bible/Journal. Guidance from the Lord. Earnest prayer. Worship Music.

Training camp was incredible on so many levels and I wish I could paint an accurate picture for you. All I can say is that I am so thankful for each of you and the prayers you have said on behalf of myself and my squad. If you want to hear more I’d love to meet with you personally or have a phone date!!

“For our boast is this, the testimony of our conscience, that we behave in the world with simplicity and Godly sincerity, not by earthly wisdom but by the grace of God.”
