When I first decided to go on the World Race and leave the comforts of my home, friends, and family to live abroad for nine months I never imagined that this would be my life. It is truly so hard to imagine what life abroad as a missionary really is like. But then before you know it, you are here living it, doing it, being it everyday. I never imagined that I would be scooping pig poop, taking cold showers every single day, using a squatty potty, straddling a squatty potty just to take a cold shower after a long day of scooping poop and lyme washing walls on a farm. I never imagined that I would be ordering meals for my team through google translate, walking 45 minutes into town on the weekends to get wifi to talk to my friends and family, or literally praying the flies away. But I also never realized that I would be surrounded by friends who feel more like family, that I would be visiting castles, lakes and beautiful cities, that I would get to wake up every single morning surrounded by some of the most beautiful views I’ve ever seen in my life. Nor did I ever realize how quickly the little things would become the big things such as a good book, a good conversation, good wifi for once, the best pizzeria probably ever, a regular toilet, and especially the perfect cup of coffee. These next nine months are going to be a journey filled with so much joy, adventure, heartache, squatty potties, and especially flies but it is such a journey worth going on.
My team is about to leave the farm we have been living on the last couple weeks that was in Lezhe, Albania and head to a new city! The new city is called Lushnje. Lushnje is a lot further south than we are now! I am so excited to get settled into my new home and start the next season of ministry!
