MINISTRY 2
Ministry at home looks
so much different than ministry here. As I was thinking of my own
personal ministry with people I was looking at how so much focus is
on creating an atmosphere. Making sure food is available, the right
worship music is playing, sometimes completely recreating a room for
an “experience” with the Lord. The Word is always brought and
there is a prayer time and we discuss certain things but out of all
this effort are people’s lives being changed? The answer is “yes”
but mostly over time due to discipleship and relationship.
When I look at Jesus’
ministry He didn’t exactly have “time” and the works to create an
“atmosphere”. He went from town to town preaching the gospel,
healing people, praying, doing all these “spiritual” things.
Here it’s the same way…we don’t have a lot of time or resources to
do physical ministry. So we bring them what we have…we have Truth.
We can pray as Jesus prayed and see God do amazing things. We can
pray for people and they can be healed. We can preach the gospel and
the Spirit of the Lord can convict their hearts. We can cast out
demons. We can raise the dead. We can prophesy over people. ( none
of these things are limited to us…they are not from “long ago”
but are happening here and now)
Let us not be limited to
doing only physical works for the Lord (though these things are not
bad or without fruit- they can and do change people for the
kingdom) but let us also be reminded that we are spiritual beings!
We have been given authority to do things Jesus did and even more
than He. Let us bring people into the presence of the Lord for that
is where people are changed.
Let what we bring to
people not be temporary but eternal. Let us bring spiritual gifts,
salvation, the Fruit of the Spirit. Let us bring them to the Father
so He can change them and make them an instrument for His good
purpose.
WHEN WE HAVE NOTHING TO
GIVE THEM WE GIVE THEM EVERYTHING GOD HAS FOR THEM…THAT IS LIFE AND
LIFE ETERNAL. THE GIFTS OF GOD ARE NOT TEMPORARY. WHAT GOOD IS IT
TO GIVE ONLY WHAT WILL SOON ROT AWAY?
Let us be kingdom
minded. Let us be aware and in tune with the Spirit of God. Let us
not limit God in what He can do.
