Hello people 🙂
Last week I took some of my friends on a last minute trip to Colorado. Last minute being the fact that they literally asked their parents Sunday Night, I picked them up from their houses and we went to bed at 12:30 a.m, woke up at 4 a.m, and then drove 16 hours to Breckenridge, Colorado. It was great.
While I was on this trip I experienced some beautiful things, and I really wanted to share them with you. I wanted to try to capture the beauty of this trip in different moments of time and where I saw Jesus throughout our trip in Colorado.
So we can start off with the car rides.
The car. A very very special place. A car holds some of the greatest memories. A place where you have the most in-depth, real conversations with friends, a place where you can cry, laugh, sing your heart out and so much more. In all throughout the four days that Peyton, Hannah, and I were on this trip, we were in the car for 40 hours. 40 hours in 4 days. That seems like a complete waste of a trip, but I’m telling you that was one of the best parts. Seeing and experiences every single type of emotion together was something so beautiful to be a part of and to feel. I know it’s something I will miss when I leave very very much but also will be one of the best things ever to reminisce on.
Our humble abode.
A cute cabin in the mountains, literally my dream home. Living in a home with Peyton and Hannah felt like the most normal thing in the world. It gave me a little taste of what life could have been like if we had all gone to college this year. It was kinda bittersweet knowing that because it felt so right and so normal. Our meal plan consisted of bagel bites, LaCroix, and some chocolate chip cookies. I kid you not that was all we ate. It was strange because we didn’t have our parents with us on the trip. No one to cook meals, plan activities, or just tell us what to do. We could do literally whatever we wanted, whenever we wanted and put in however much effort, but we had no idea what to do. And it got me thinking. That’s kind of how our relationship with Jesus goes. He’s not with you physically, but spiritually. He doesn’t boss us around because we have free will. We determine how much we want to grow in our relationship with Jesus because he gave us the ability to choose to do whatever we want, whenever we want. We decide how much effort we want to put into knowing him and loving him and growing with and through him.
The mountains.
Oh, the mountains. I don’t know about you, but mountains remind me of everything good in the world. The literal breathtaking, vast beauty of such an amazing creation blows me away every time. On one of the days we decided to go hiking, we showed up in converse with one bottle of water and lots of stares from experts. After taking a few wrong turns on our hike, we ended up in this small field at the base of the mountains. And just seeing the beauty and creation and every single detail of all of it was one of the most beautiful things I have seen in my life. It’s so hard for me to write about this because I am literally at a loss for words every time I think about that moment. We were exhausted and just looked up and it was like you could feel the beauty just overpowering you. I was basically just staring at God. In that moment of just being completely exhausted and just looking up to see that beauty and feel the love from his creation was so empowering and it was like I was falling in love with Jesus and just discovering him all over again.
I feel like there is no way that I could have written this blog and described this trip and done it justice. But from what I could describe, those were just a few special moments of time and love and happiness that I wanted to share with you. Jesus blesses us with the most amazing things and the most beautiful people and I think that we take it for granted. So tell people you love them and appreciate their presence more often and take time to witness the true beauty and detail of Gods creations.
