Internet is tight here, so I'm just spitting out a quick blog to let you know what's going on and how you can be praying!
First I'm in
NEPAL!!
Land of Hinduism, the Himalayas, Mt. EVEREST!!!, and lots of tea!
We spent 4 days in Kathmandu – the capital – just resting from travel days. We went to Tahmel, the shopping district where I was able to buy some nifty Aladdin pants and a cute wrap skirt. We went to a monkey temple and took a plane out to actually see Mt. Everest, which was pretty awesome! So beautiful, it's wonderful to see God's glory in nature!
Tuesday we arrived here in our "village." We live next to a river, which is frieking amazing and we hear it all day long. Our ministry is mostly handing out tracts and talking to people when we can. Our translator for the moment is named Raj and he is hilarious! Totally gets the American sarcasm thing. For our first day of ministry we hiked an hour up a foothill/minature mountain, what we would probably consider a mountain in NC. We were able to sit with a few different families and tell them about Jesus – whom they had never heard of before. Yup, starting from the basics, it's always an interesting thing.
Yesterday was our second day of ministry. We hiked for about 2.5 hours and passed out tracts. It was a little difficult for some of my teammates to just pass out tracts because in America, we would never just pass out tracts. It not personal, but here, where people have never heard of Christ, a simple tract is the door opener. It gives them the first glance of this person/ story they have never heard of.
On our way home, we rode on top of a bus down the mountain, feeling like the bus might flip down into the river at any moment. We have breakfast at 7:30 which is just milk tea. We have lunch at 8:30 which consists of rice, curry, lentils, and a type of chip. Snack is usually a pack of coconut cookies. And dinner is similar to lunch at 6pm. Guess who is always hungry??? This girl!!
Anywho, yea this is my life for the month. Join me in it! Be praying for our conversations and our words. We are definitely praying for those that are supporting us in everything we do! Please be praying for our financial support so that we can all be fully funded! Pray for our team, this is our first month alone, so we are trying to get deep with one another.
