The ministry here in Romania is so amazing and inspiring. All the missionaries are so passionate about this community and reaching the people here.
One of our assignments here has been going out and handing out invitations to the church’s grand opening next Sunday. We literally get dropped off with a stack of small square invites and we walk miles placing them in the “mail boxes” and in gates so that people will know.
I asked Anka – a beautiful young lady that works at the church – where they were going to put all the people in the church because we had handed out over 1000 invitations. She informed me that a few months ago, they handed out 2000 invites to a concert and only had 10 new people show up, so there would not be many new people coming.
It was disheartening, but some of our teammates were talking with Raul our contact here and he said to them after 3 hours of handing out invites,
“How happy will you be if only 10 people show up from this?”
Then he asked them how much they would make for a day’s work in America.
“That is money that will go away. You just spent a day working to save souls, that will never pass away.”
Such a reminder that the next 11 months, though we will not make much money, we will potentially not have the best living situations, and we will often be hungry, we are working to save souls EVERY SINGLE DAY!! As Christians, this should always be our every day. Raul’s wisdom is like a bottomless well and I look forward to learning even more from him.
Please pray for the church as it has its grand opening this Sunday, that many will come, that they will have a burning curiosity, that they will see a love they are drawn to. Pray for Draganesti – Olt, that these people will recognize their sin, forget their pride, and turn to the grace of God!!!
