For launch we decided to make a quick pit stop in Little Mexico

A.K.A Gainesville, GA

The place we launched from was in Gainesville, GA.  A small hispanic community, where the local church allowed us to stay in their building.  We slept on the floor every night and walk about 25 minutes to take a  shower a hotel room.  It was pretty fantastic!  Those walks were an amazing time to spend with our team getting to know one another and just have fun.  We lived on 105.00 for 7 people for 3 days of food, ate a lot of $1 tacos and food with very little substance.  It was definitely a challenge, but we managed!

We had a few sessions explaining what the WR is going to consist of.  Things like:

FEEDBACK- which is giving positive and constructive comments to all the members of your team everyday in a purposeful time
POSITIVE ATTITUDES – this can make or break our race and it's all up to us
HIGH PREFERNCE – choosing our teammates, squadmates, ministry partners, everyone, over ourselves

Now we are in the process of our first travel day, we are in Atlanta spending the night in a homeless shelter before waking up at 5:40 tomorrow morning and heading to the airport for 2 days of flying!  It's funny how people become attracted to 30+ people traveling around with huge packs on their back.  We've been stopped multiple times by people asking what we are doing, and it's a wonderful way to share truth.  We are at a coffee shop right now and we just had a young lady, Amanda, come and tell us she has a friend on the race and loves the whole idea of it.  She sat and talked with us all for a few minutes, definitely a woman of God, you could just see the life of God shining through her eyes when she spoke of her excitement for us.  These encounters are blessings spilled upon us that remind us, this is not about us even a little, nor about the specific ministries we are going to, but instead every moment of our lives!!  Thanks girl!
