I love squad leading.

It’s fun.

I live my life amongst 47 peers pushing them to be even more awesome than they already are.

I love it.

Dream job.

This past week we had our first squad debrief.  That means that the whole squad comes together, our squad mentor and squad coaches (a.k.a squad parents) fly out to meet up with us, and we spend time seeing how the teams are doing and have a few teachings.  It was fun and relaxing and crazy!  I wobbled so hard that I might have sprained a ligament in my knee.

Our squad mentor, Jeremy, decided to stay with us for two days to see how we are doing as Squad Leaders and to give us some teachings.  After spending the first morning sitting around discussing logistical stuff, we decided to walk to town for lunch and exploration and mostly just a good time.

While we were doing all this stuff, Jeremy kept asking us, “How can we make this day memorable?”

It was such a small thing, but it had a big impact on me.

So often we walk around in life just living what is given to us.  But God created us to live a wild, crazy, adventure filled life and it’s up to us to pursue that.  He has given us all the tools, He has given us all the opportunities, we just have to take all that and see it for the wonder that it is.

My co-leader, Michael, reminds me to do this on a normal basis too.  So often I’ll lean to the side of getting frustrated in a situation, but Michael always asks me, “Madisson, is there anything you can do about this?”  To which I answer “no” and tells me “Well, let’s have fun then.”

So that’s what I’m doing.  I’m trying to live this trip with my eyes open to all of God’s glory and especially all His joy.

Here’s to all the laughter these next 4 months will bring!!!
