Their bare feet running in the dirt. Pain in their eyes. Smiles on their faces. All around the world people are hurting. Kids are hurting. There is a cycle of hurt in families. Dad isn’t around. Mom can’t stop drinking. Mom isn’t around. Dad can’t stop drinking. The men are fighting in the street. The little boys are fighting in the street. Mom needs a new guy. Girls seek validation in men. Kids are left feeling unworthy of love or don’t even know what it is like to be loved on by a parent, grandparent, or have any positive attention. Everywhere that I have been in the world there is the same issue. Broken families.

Thankful for grace and Love that comes from the Father. I have seen God take care of His children time and time again. He takes care of His kids on the street, in the schools, in the shelters, in the homes. Let your heart break for God’s little children.

Because of Him I have the passion for helping children. Showing them love. Breaking the cycle. This is why I want to pursue working with children through social work. To learn more about family structure and the hope of children being in positive environments where they can grow and learn and most importantly be loved. All around the world there is a lack of child welfare. Welfare is defined as the health and happiness of a person. Not only do kids need education, water, food, and a place to sleep. They need love, attention, to be told they are wanted and valued. They need to learn how to treat one another and see what positive interactions look like between adults. Kids shouldn’t have to watch fighting in the streets or live in fear. They shouldn’t have to watch their mothers be abused. They shouldn’t be abused. So what I want to see for the future, starting now, is that we look out for family. We value our marriages. We pray for our children. We reach out to the kids without positive parental figures. Invest in other people. Love without conditions. Love all the time. Look at people in the eyes. Leave everyone better than you found them. Let’s live knowing and establishing this is in our children’s values; that we are freed from our past, cared for in our present, and assured of our future, let’s live our faith boldly, love sacrificially, and treasure Christ greatly.
