With Covid-19, I really wasn’t expecting the opportunity to do much outreach while here in Georgia but a few weeks ago we found out we would be heading to Louisiana to do disaster relief work. I wanted to wait to share because that was really all we knew until today. So here’s the lowdown.

We will be partnering with an organization called Samaritan’s Purse to help with disaster relief in Louisiana! Hurricane Laura devastated Louisiana’s gulf coast and now Hurricane Delta is about to sweep through, just as communities are starting to recover. Part of my squad will be serving in DeRidder and the other part, including my team, will be in Lake Charles.

Samaritan’s Purse is the #1 organization is international disaster relief. They are typically the first ones on the scene of a humanitarian crisis and the last to leave. Their goal is to take care of people’s physical needs while also ministering to spiritual needs in the process.

In Louisiana, we will be working with homeowners who suffered severe damages in the hurricane but have a limited income and no insurance. Basically, they have no where else to turn for relief or compassion. But the great news is, we get to provide that for them in the name of Jesus

To say I’m excited is an understatement! I really have a heart for those that are suffering and feel hopeless so the idea that I get to partner with God and Samaritan’s Purse to bring healing, hope, and the Good News literally brings tears of joy to my eyes.

Another gap year squad has been in DaQuincy, LA for a week already and they’ve seen the Lord move in big ways. Within the first two days, they were able to tarp several damaged roofs and SIX PEOPLE WERE SAVED! Wow, thanks God! That squad is currently in Texas right now waiting out Hurricane Delta but will return to DaQuincy after and serve for another week.

Anyway, I’m just so excited and I hope y’all are too. I can’t wait to see the Lord move and then share that here. Stay tuned!
