An excerpt from my journal as I reflected on my time in Costa Rica :

Living in this culture, I’ve learned what it looks like to slow down. To enjoy every little moment that life has to offer. That could be anything from admiring all the trees that are covered in bright orange flowers, savoring a breakfast that isn’t eggs and gallo pinto (rice and beans), or sharing a cup of coffee with someone between ministries.
In working with Til He Returns, I’ve learned to be aware and intentional with the way I interact with people in ministry and the long term effects of my actions. I’ve learned what it looks to come alongside and empower to enact real change rather than provide quick fixes that actually hurt more than they help. I’ve learned that one of the most valuable tools for the Kingdom is relationship, and that relationship takes real investment.
The Lord has also been walking me through what it looks like to steward my gifts well and walk out in boldness. To trust in the gifts He’s given me and to give them away to others. To know my role in the Body of Christ and fulfill it. Recently, that’s been sharing the truth of scripture with confused and hurting people I meet during evangelism. It’s really hard to walk up to a stranger and just start talking to them, especially when you don’t speak the same language, but pushing past the initial awkwardness has been so fruitful. And seeing the Spirit work within the people we meet is just so awe-inspiring.
After this season, I’m willing to do anything as long as the Lord is going before me. His goodness is more than enough assurance for me.
