As we have traveled to different villages around Mahapleu and talked to Christians in our community, it is so evident that God is on the move here in Côte d’Ivoire. The community we live with includes families and individuals who love Jesus with full hearts.
Through the prayers and messages, I see the passion in the words and songs of these people. I hear shouts of praise of who God is and His power. I see movements full of strength and confidence in who God created them to be.
Here in this village we’ve seen how power and fear are emphasized in this area – how the power of God is essential in the midst of spiritual warfare. The community responds with prayers and music throughout their days. Last week it became normal that we’d hear drums and speaking until 1:30 in the morning and again as early as 4:30am. Prayer covers this place, and we’ve been able to join in unity with our brothers and sisters here to pray Jesus the Lord over this land.
Along with the power, God as healer is an important reality. Holy Spirit is so evident in ways I’ve never experienced before. The power of prayer is so real. In visiting villages, our team has been called up to pray over those who desire prayer and healing.
Adults and children come up one by one. As I hold each hand and shoulder, I listen for words from the Holy Spirit- prompting and words that He brings to me to pray for the individual. Even as I pray in English, I sense the power that is available to us in prayer. The same power that has raised Jesus from the dead is within us when we accept Jesus into our lives as Lord and Savior.
On our adventure day this past week (our day dedicated to seeing the area and meeting the larger communities), we traveled to a close city called Man (M-on) that is near Mahapleu. On this day, our translator came as well as another man who translates from French to the local language.
During our travel, our second translator, Elvis, asked if we’d mind visiting his brother. We ended up going to a local hospital in Man and meeting his brother. While we were there, we learned about the blood problems and anemia that he was experiencing as well as what the two other people in the room were experiencing.
As a team, we came together and prayed for Elvis’s brother and then for the other two individuals. We prayed all together for healing, for complete renewal, for God’s original design over their bodies, for God’s presence to come and surround them, to be their comfort. In Jesus name, for His power to transform their health.
As we transitioned from the hospital back to adventure day and to our sabbath the next day, I continued to reflect over God’s power. Two days later, our team was told that all three men in that hospital room were healed and able to go home.
Our prayers hold power. With Jesus as Lord and Savior, we have the Holy Spirit inside us that speaks personally and holds power that can bring healing. May He continue to bring deliverance here and healing as we seek to share who He is and what He has been teaching and speaking to us.
