Remember when I worked at Waffle House?
Well I missed that job so much that when some of us were eating at this amazing American diner, we asked the owner if we could come work for a day.
Today was that day and now I see God always has a plan so much bigger than what you think it is.
I dressed cute in my one cute top and jeans and strutted into the restaurant so excited to use my waitressing skills again. Then, the manager said she needed someone on dishes and someone on inventory…
You know I chose dishes.
I thought it would be so fun to work in the kitchen with everyone and make some friends in the back… but then the sink was outside and no one was around.
For about 15 minutes I did dishes alone outside, until a woman walked up.
Her name is Claire, she is 26, and she loves Jesus.
Today I met a sister in Christ who needed encouragement and teaching. As I shared with her my story she was so inspired. She has dreams to have her own DIY shop with tons of Christian trinkets.
She started sharing her life with me and God put an idea in my head that I had to share with her. She was saying how she feels like an alien in Malaysia. Her parents put her down for who she is and she feels like no one understands her. I thought of her as a white sheep in a flock of black sheep. I told her she feels like an alien because God calls us to be set apart— a unique people that look different than the rest. She is an ambassador of Jesus’ light and when she walks into a room the Holy Spirit uses her to crush darkness.
As tears started to roll down her face I realized this day was planned by God, not by me.
It’s easy to think the day is for you — when in reality God wants to use you to bless someone else as well. Don’t ever be afraid to encourage someone and share your story. You never know how much they will need it.
Thanks God for a new sister.
Love you Claire!
