Wow a lot has happened in the 2 weeks from training camp to now. I’m not really sure how I’ll be able to express everything in a single blog post right now but I’m going to try my best.
To start off, my squad is AMAZING. We are all so unique but we just vibe together so well. Our house is full of intentional conversations, laughter, and just straight up happiness. I know its only been a week or so but I’m excited to see where we’ll go together in the remaining weeks.
Training camp was a whirlwind. It was 3 days jam packed of worship, learning, and community. I really wish that everybody could experience training camp. I learned so dagum much. Here‘s some small bullet points that really just stood out to me.
-Trade in your American dream for a Kingdom dream. Our society puts so much emphasis on success and worldly things. A kingdom dream doesn’t mean living in third world countries. It just means dying to yourself everyday and being willing to hear the Holy Spirit everyday.
-Your success is not measured by your results. It is measured by obedience. I really relied on this information during one of our house visits. We met with an elderly lady who believed she only had one more week to live. It was a very surreal moment and we honestly felt like her last hope. We had to take a moment to think about the fact that we are just called to plant the seed. I believe that Jesus is working in her heart and I know we will go back to continue to talk with her. Jesus has been working in this village long before we got here and we are not here alone. Our single act of obedience can set so much into motion.
-If you do not know what the truth is, a lie can sound deceivable. The enemy is afraid for us to know who we are. He will attack us in the ways that he knows will hurt the most. Its important to pay attention to one voice and not let the enemy attack us. The enemy works hard but our God works harder.
-Just because you’re the only one doing it today, doesn’t mean that you’ll be the only one doing it tomorrow. We are called to step out on faith and sometimes that means going against the flow.
Training camp truly prepared my heart for what was to come and I am thankful to be on this journey.
Now onto the first week or so in Cambodia. After about 26 hours of travel, we arrived to the University of the Nations. It is our base camp where we live, eat, and do a lot of our ministry. The first couple of days consisted of a lot of rest and just settling in. A lot of my time was spent in a hammock under the palm trees. Sounds pretty heavenly right? I have truly come to love our many moments of rest and find myself reading and journaling. It was hard to adjust to the speed of this country. America is so quick and on the run. if you’re sitting, then you’re being lazy. However, here resting is a necessity. Its moments to reflect and have you time. I feel so much more productive during our working hours if I do take time to rest.
We started our first full week of ministry on Monday. Ministry days have consisted of house visits in the morning, digging a fish pond in the afternoon, and teaching in the evening. Our days are so full and I have enjoyed the time spent working.
I know this was a lot but I’ll be sure to give more updates soon. I have to go because the tuk tuk is waiting outside to take us back to the camp. Hope y’all have a great week and see ya soon! Sending love from Cambodia!
