Today is my squad leader’s 27th birthday. For those unfamiliar with world race lingo, a squad leader is someone who has gone on the race before and is now discipling us. They come with us all nine months and do ministry with us, but their main ministry is to invest in us and teach us. Jackie Halyard is a 10/10 squad leader. I’ve been lucky enough to spend lots of one on one time with Jackie and become close to her. She’s taught me so much and is the most extra. For her 27th birthday, here’s 27 things I love about her!

 

 

  1. Jackie loves the Lord and because of that she loves her racers really really well.
  2. She is a strong believer in being the first to fart in front of other people so that other people feel more comfortable.
  3. She is an advocate for the people she loves and will fight for you. 
  4. “Squeeze” is her phrase whenever someone is cute, and its the cutest. *squeeze*
  5. She speaks truth
  6. She has the loudest whistle ever. Impressive every time.
  7. Jackie was the first person to ask how I reeaaaally was at training camp. She welcomed my bottled up tears and through that I felt so loved.
  8. She tells stories in the most hilarious way.
  9. She talks in a really silly voice that no one else can master. 
  10. She encourages vulnerability (which creates authentic relationship).
  11. She takes feedback really well.
  12. She stayed home from ministry with me when I was having serious tummy problems and let me cry to her about my poop and somehow I left the conversation feeling encouraged & so fulfilled.
  13. She has the crustiest whip. But we all love it.
  14. She is willing to help execute pranks.
  15. She taught me about the victory ladder. 
  16. Jackie really loves the word of God and her emotion when she reads is inspiring.
  17. She translates Spanish for us gringas.
  18. She seeks to understand.
  19. She gave up nine months to hang out with 18-21 year olds.
  20. No story is too embarrassing for Jackie to share.
  21. She is the most extra person – everything is so dramatic but in the very best way.
  22. She gives a good snug and a good hug
  23. Jackie can always recommend a good coffee shop. 
  24. She will hold you accountable but never shame you.
  25. She radiates beauty.
  26. She is honest.
  27. Jackie loves people really well. She is kind, patient, and honoring. She is a Godly woman who makes everyone feel invited and so dearly loved. 

 

Wow. What a woman. A woman who deserves a screaming 27th birthday.
