Now that I’m 21 I wanted to reflect on some of my favorite memories of being 20. Here goes!
- San Francisco with Mom ~ I turned 20 when I was on a little week long trip to San Francisco with my mom. It was the best way to start the new year and being a new age. We drank bomb coffee, ate Indonesian food, and laughed a whole lot together. I’m forever thankful for that week!
- Living with two of my closest friends ~ Winter and spring term I got to live with Nat and Lo Kerr. Living with two of your best friends means countless movie nights, endless cookie baking, and unplanned sleepovers. Even better it means always having two people to laugh with and cry to.
- My dad moving into a new house ~ My dad moved into a house in February that’s on a lake in Eugene. It has made family gatherings so fun and some of my favorite memories are there with my whole family.
- Crater Lake ~ I live in Oregon and somehow it took me 20 years to make it to Crater Lake. Natalie, my friends from California, and I took a day to drive down in the snow and it was absolutely stunning. Even if only for a couple of hours, it was such a great experience to see the beauty and wonder.
- Yosemite ~ Again only for a day, but I got to see Yosemite which was a dream of mine. Absolutely breathtaking. I got to see it during a storm so the waters were roaring and rain pouring down on us. An experience I’ll never forget and a place I promise I’ll return to.
- Getting accepted & committing to the world race ~ On the way to Yosemite I got the call that I was accepted and days later I committed. Wow! It was so freeing to say “yes God” and put my other plans on hold.
- Bible study with Nat, Lindsey, Paige ~ Getting together once a week at Java Stop to have bible study, but more often just talking about life & loving on each other. Such a sweet time of every week.
- Finishing sophomore year and most likely my last year at Oregon State ~ Despite not wanting to go back, I really enjoyed and cherished my time at OSU. OSU is such a good school & I’m thankful I got to start my education there.
- Washington Family Ranch ~ I got to go to the ranch twice this summer. The first time I went with my friend George and met LG and Erin there to watch Erin’s kids with LG and just hang out. It was the best of times. Then right before I left for the WR I did a work crew weekend with Ash Holz and it was also so fun. Every time I go to the ranch I leave refreshed.
- Training camp ~ The worst but also the best. Hated it. But loved it. Idk how to explain.
- Being baptized by my bestie ~ LG baptized me!!! Self explanatory why that would make my highlights.
- Being reunited with long distance friends ~ Whether it be Nat coming home from Spain/Bahrain, Madelynne from California, Tay from Virginia, or anyone else, it is always my favorite to see friends I haven’t seen in forever and pick up where we left off.
- Mt Rainier with Dad ~ My dad and I hiked a few times together this year and I loved it all, but my favorite was going to Mt Rainier for a weekend. It was the most beautiful scenery and so much fun hanging out with my Pops. Can’t wait to go back next summer & camp!
- Kendra visiting & beach ~ Kendra, my friend from San Diego, came to visit right before I left for the WR. We went to the beach, got tattoos, and went to Jam. 3 of my fav things to do!
- Mabe and Fabi ~ Absolutely one of the best parts of being 20 was meeting Mabe & Fabi and becoming a daughter to them. I felt so loved and invested in and continue to feel that way. I’m sooo happy to have a home in Ecuador with the most kind & loving people.
- Baños ~ A little town in Ecuador where we spent a few days. From zip lining to praying over people to open mic night, it was a week of fun and freedom and reflection. I was extremely homesick but also extremely grateful to be where I was.
- New friendships and sisterhoods ~ Being a part of Team Hope is the biggest blessing. From stranger to sisters, they became some of my best friends in a matter of 6 months.
- Julio and Flor ~ Peru was amazing but I think the best part was meeting Julio and Flor. Another family I feel adopted into & cant wait to visit when I can. Love and grace to a new level.
- Ocean in Peru ~ Again, I loved Peru, but aside from the people and ministry I really only loved the ocean. The rest of the scenery was meh but the beach was amazing. Sunset swims in the ocean made me feel on top of the world!
- Holidays in Guatemala ~ I’ll probably only spend a holiday season in Guatemala once so I told myself I needed to enjoy it and not sit in homesickness and throw myself a pity party. It ended up being amazing & I so wish I could relive Christmas and New Years (minus the sugar overload stomach aches)
