You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is heaven.” Matthew 5:14-16

Ever since my seventh grade year, the year I found this verse, my goal has been to love, live, and love again in a way that shines light on God. Sometimes I’ve been great at that. Other times I have failed epically.

When I learned about the world race, and when I started really diving into it I couldn’t ignore the pull In my heart. “Set Apart” were the first two words I saw front and center on the World Race Gap Year website. That was me. Those words rang true to me. An opportunity to not only travel (a big dream of mine) but also to love people and love Jesus while doing it. Could it get better than that? College never felt quite right, but this did.The Gap Year trip was suddenly all I could focus on. That goal I had since seventh grade, that goal to love and be the light and be the change I wished to see exploded nearly overnight.

So now, here I am. Ten months until launch. Trying to contain the excitement of knowing I am going to embark on a crazy journey thats going to be filled with crazy, crazy love. It’s going to be incredibly difficult but also incredibly powerful and beautiful. Ask questions. Cheer me on. Send prayers and spread the word. I’m beyond thankful and excited to share this journey with you!
