Last week, we were in Thabo Mbeki, which is one of the squatter camps that we do community outreach in.
When we get to the squatter camp each morning, we are put into groups of three or four, and then each group goes down a different street. This day, I was with my friends, Connor & Gary, and Gary had previously met a Sangoma (witch doctor) and wanted to go to his house to follow up with him.
*side note: this particular morning, we sat down as a team before leaving for ministry, and asked the Lord to send each of us on a Mission. & we did listening prayer and asked the Lord to give us visions, names, faces of people, words of encouragement, etc. We all got different things: colors of shirts, a specific color house, a tiny fence, a blind man, & many other things.*
So, we separated into our groups, and began heading to our assigned street. The boys and I walked across the squatter camp to the street that the Sangoma lived on. As soon as we turned onto the street I saw the tiny fence that Kristine had gotten a vision of earlier that morning!!! We walked past it, a couple shacks down, to the one that Gary had talked to the Sangoma at before. He wasn’t home. So, we walked back to the tiny fence, but nobody was at home there either.
We decided to continue walking down the street that we were on. We got a ways down and Gary saw two guys that he recognized. We stopped and began talking with them. One of the guys told us part of his testimony. He had been stabbed in the spine and that caused him to have a limp in his left leg and a lot of pain in his back and legs. We got to pray healing over his body.
The Lord had laid a few scriptures on my heart, and while I was sharing them with the guy we had just prayed healing over, Gary & Connor were sharing the Gospel with the guys friend & while these two conversations were happening, a beautiful lady had walked up and sat down in a chair near by.
As I was sharing scriptures with this guy, the lady that had just sat down, kept saying “Amen!” And clapping her hands.
The guy Gary and Connor were sharing the Gospel with decided to give his life to the Lord and Gary led him through the salvation prayer. As we were all celebrating his salvation, the sweet lady looked at me and asked me if she could have my Bible. Before I could process her question, I had already responded with a resounding, “absolutely!!!” I got to hand her the precious, living Words of God, and was able to pray with her!!! She was so full of joy. With excitement in her voice, she said to her daughter, “look! I got a Bible!!” And she looked back at me with a big smile on her face and said, “I’m going to put it in my bag and take it everywhere with me and read it all the time!” It was beautiful! And such a great day for the Kingdom!
As I was processing this day, and all that happened, the Lord spoke to me about two different things:
The first was about divine appointments. If you ask the Lord to send you on a Mission, He will do so. This day, these three people, were divine appointments from the Lord. Had we not been in tune with the Holy Spirit, we could’ve missed the opportunity to pray healing, share the Gospel & witness a salvation, and to give a Bible away.
I want to encourage each of you to ask the Lord each day who He wants you to talk to that day. Ask Him for divine appointments. Ask Him to send you on a Mission each morning when you wake up. There are many, many people that are lost, hurting, & in need of encouragement. The Lord wants to use YOU to share the Gospel with someone who might not otherwise hear the Good News. The Lord has been teaching me that we just need to have a yes in our heart & to show up. The Holy Spirit will do the rest.
The second thing was a question that the Lord laid on my heart:
What if we all got this excited about having a Bible to read? What if every time we opened our Bibles we shouted with joy, solely at the fact that we have a Bible to call our own, to read anytime we want to?
A lot of the people we talk to don’t have Bibles, & don’t have the money to buy one. It is truly so beautiful & humbling to see how excited they get when they receive one. These words that we GET to read are the living, breathing words of our Father! We should get excited more often about simply having a Bible to read!!!
P.S. We went back to the house with the tiny fence and there was a young girl home! We got to meet and talk to her. We shared the Gospel with her. We spoke truth and life into areas where she was confused. & we got to pray with her.
The Lord’s timing is so perfect, friends! 🙂
Recklessly,
Madison
