As I’m typing this blog, I’m sitting in Belgrade, Serbia, realizing that month 1 of the Race is officially over. wow. That’s really hard for me to believe. Month 1 was absolutely incredible.
I wanted to share some more pictures with you all and tell you some more about what our ministry looked like for month 1!
Every day our ministry host, Zoli, gave us practical work to do. We cleaned the church, cleaned out the garage at the church, we cleaned out the attic space that you see in the picture below of me holding the vacuum, we painted the shower room and the attic space, scrubbed paint off of the tile floors, stained a bench, gathered and organized bags of clothes for a free yard sale, we spent a day helping a lady from the church clean her yard and whatever else Zoli needed us to do for that day!
It’s hard to tell, but we were staining a bench.
Our afternoons and evenings were spent doing ministry with the people of Sombor. A few of us spent our evenings at a park that was about a 30 minute walk from the church. We would play basketball, throw the football, play volleyball, swing and just pour into each child and teenager that was at the park that evening.
My teammate and I had the opportunity to attend a free art class multiple days a week. We were able to become great friends with the art teacher and her daughter, and were able to have great conversations with her and invite her to the church service on Sunday evenings.
A few people went to another park that was close to the town square and played the guitar and sang worship songs.
2 of my teammates were able to go to an outdoor boxing/workout/soccer class multiple times. Alex and I were able to go once and it was so much fun!
Also, a few people would stay back at the cafe, that was at the church, and play cards games and drink coffee with the youth that showed up every night at 7.
Every Sunday evening, someone from our team would keep the children during the service. Alex and I had the opportunity to do the children’s ministry one Sunday night. Only one of the girls could speak decent english, but we were able to read a Bible story, color some pictures and play cards games!
Our last Saturday in Sombor, Ian from team Paradosis, did a magic show and was able to use his talents while sharing the Gospel with many people!
This last picture is of my team, Ahava, and team Paradosis, with our ministry host, Zoli, his wife and 2 daughters, and a few people we became great friends with, as we were saying our good-byes.
This was just a few of the incredible opportunities the Lord provided for us to serve during month 1. The Lord was so good to us this month! I am so excited to see what all He has planned for Month 2, which is All Squad Month, in ROMANIA!!!
Thank you all so much for reading and following along on this amazing journey the Lord is taking me on!
