Last month in Rwanda, we were living with Dad and Mom Africa, who are both pastors. They have two churches and one of them has been closed by the government for a year because it needs a new roof. To get a new roof put on, it would cost $1200.

The first week we were there, Dad and Mom Africa told us one morning to be praying that day, because the government officials were coming out to look at the church and reevaluate it. So the team and I started praying, as we moved big rocks from the bottom of the driveway to the top. We prayed that the Lord would change the government leader’s minds. We prayed that the Lord would soften their hearts and that some way, some how the church doors would be reopened. We watched as they walked through the church and talked to Dad and Mom Africa for a while. After they left, we went and asked them what the news was, and they told us that the government leaders said they could reopen the church doors but that it still needed to have a new roof put on and they would come back in three weeks. We were stoked to hear this news! A literal miracle and answered prayer from the Lord! When the team heard this, they wrote a blog reaching out to supporters back home, in hopes of raising the $1200 for them.

A day or two after receiving the news that it was ok to reopen the doors, they had a worship and prayer service in the church, and because the church was next door to where we were living, we could hear everything. It was beautiful! Our Dad Africa was so filled with joy! He walked around all day saying things like, “Hallelujah” and “Praise God!” He sat in the living room with us while the service was happening and couldn’t stop smiling and singing worship songs and praising Jesus for this miracle!

Within a few days of the team posting the blog, they had raised OVER $1200! Insane!! The faithfulness of the Lord just blows me away time and time again. At the end of the month, we were able to present our host family with an envelope, in it the full amount needed for a new roof for their church so that the doors can remain open!

To make this story even greater, the team was able to purchase things like, toothbrushes, toothpaste, notebooks, etc. for the kids at the school that we taught english at all month, and was able to give each child a goody bag of things they desperately needed, on their last day of ministry at the school!

It was a month full of stories about God showing up and doing things that only He could do. I’m so grateful for this season of life. To be able to play a part in bringing Kingdom here on earth is beyond my wildest dreams! I am truly living the most abundant life.

With gratitude,

Mads
