Good afternoon everyone! The past week has been very busy and full of surprises here in Manila. On Friday we got hit with a typhoon and our ministries got canceled for the day because of all the flooding. But don’t worry, everyone is okay! There was just a lot of rain.
Also, my team and I were told that instead of leaving for Tacloban on October 3rd as planned, we are going to be staying in Manila for the full 3 months!! I’m very excited that I get to continue to grow the relationships I’ve started and further pursue these ministries.
This morning my team and I went on a feeding to one of the poorer areas and it was truly heartbreaking. The conditions that they were living in consisted of trash, mud, stray dogs, and several kids and children not wearing clothes. Yet they are all so sweet and thankful and run to us carrying their plastic bags, mugs, and random containers so they can have a hot meal. They also love taking selfies (yes, the selfie epidemic has gone global). When I went to my first feeding last week, I struggled with wondering how God could allow people to live like this. I heard him speak to me that “out of these ashes, beauty will rise”. With that I’m at peace knowing that God is good and in control of everything.
Prayer requests: For me and my team to not be as homesick and really focus on being present in our ministries!
