This past year I have struggled with deciding whether or not to pursue a career in nursing or go down a different path. The struggle with that was I had no idea what else I would do if I did not choose to become a nurse. I had looked into going on a short term mission trip this past summer but felt I needed to finish some classes, so I decided not to go ahead with it. But God kept pursuing me.

I recently finished reading the book Radical by David Platt, which changed my whole view on mission trips. Here is one quote from the book that really stuck out to me, “When we risk our lives to run after Christ, we discover the safety that is found only in his sovereignty, the security that is found only in his love, and the satisfaction that is found only in his presence. This is the eternally great reward, and we would be foolish to settle for anything less.” I truly believe that God gives us hard trials and pushes us out of our comfort zones to show us his faithfulness.

I found out about the world race from a previously leader I had on a short term mission trip. I looked into the world race and found the gap year but didn’t apply. I spent lots of time in deep thought and prayer trying to figure out my next step. I finally just sent in my email and a short application about myself and then prayed to God, “If this is your call for me, send me. I’m all in.” Seriously, moments later I got a call from an Adventures in Missions staff member encouraging me to move on to the interview process. At this point there really was no doubting in weather this was my call or not. So I finished my interview process and not even two weeks later I got accepted!

Although, I am more than thrilled for this opportunity that God has given me, I could not be more nervous about those nine months I’ll be spending in three different continents,  living a whole new life style. This will be a giant step out of my comfort zone and a huge leap into my faith. I’ll be spending three months in each place; Eastern Europe(Balkans), Southeast Asia(philippines), and South Africa. God will be using us to provide the gospel to local churches and communities in these areas, as well as many other things.

I am beyond excited to see what God has in store for me and watch his plan unfold for our World Race team and these parts of the world. Afterall, God has blessed me to show his mercy and grace.
