(Exodus 20:8-11)
“Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor, and do all your work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, you, or your son, or your daughter, your male servant, or your female servant, or your livestock, or the sojourner who is within your gates. For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.”
I have learned that a day of rest in the Lord is so important!
Life gets so busy and we don’t think we have time to just sit back and make space for the Lord and His voice.
I don’t have to do anything on Sabbath. I only need to rest. I need to do whatever gives me rest in the Lord. I thought in quiet times I needed to read my bible or do my devotional or DO something. But the Lord just wants us to rest and spend time with Him.
One of the speakers here had said, “Anytime spent with the Lord is not wasted.” That really made me think. I don’t have to come up with this fancy, long plan before I talk to God. Anytime I make space for Him in my head and heart I can talk to God. He is always there, ready to listen.
Back home I would be so busy and caught up with work, school and life, I would forget to talk to God during the day. On weekends I was excited to sit back and do nothing. But in the time of doing nothing, I would forget to talk to God. Living here, in a tent, with my focused goal everyday: to Praise the Lord and not worry about anything! It is insane! Weekends here, I am learning to make space for God. To sit back and enjoy conversations with the almighty. To rejoice in the small things. To go to God first with any and everything I do.
Sabbath is crazy important. But also Making space for God everyday, not just on Sabbath, is super important too.
Things in Life are not more important than spending time with the God who created you.
The Lord is so patient. He waits so patiently for His children.
He never condemns but only shows Grace.
“Christ has set us free. He wants us to enjoy Freedom. So stand firm. Don’t let the chains of slavery hold you again.” (Galatians 5:1)
I am no longer a slave to fear! I am a child of God!!!!
I am free to rest in the Lord. I am free to talk to God whenever and wherever.
I am Free.
