Hey everyone!!
Soooo I have been in Gainesville, GA for a week now and God is really moving in this place!
There are 4 Squads here on campus, and I am apart of Squad F!! Because of Covid, everyone in a squad is broken down into two cohorts, each cohort is broken down into 2 teams!! Whoaaa:D
My team is so amazing:) I will do another blog introducing them all!! But, they are all such wonderful Godly women, who have been so open and kind during this crazy, awesome first week!!
Day 3 was the fitness hike! 2.2 miles in under 38 minutes with your 35 lbs pack. Doesn’t sound too bad right? Wrong.. This hike was not just a physical journey , but a spiritual one.
My pride forced me to the front of my team. I felt like I had to prove myself, show I’m not weak and not be last..but through the hike I knew I physically couldn’t handle it on my own. There was this massive hill that we had to climb…twice?? I definitely did not prepare enough for that and my untrained body could not do it.
Who was I relaying on? Myself? Yes. Who was the only one who could really get me up that hill and to the end of the hike?
JESUS!! “He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength. Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.”( Isaiah 40:29-31)
I had to let me burdens go, my pride go and stop looking to myself for strength. Because I couldn’t do it.“ I lift my eyes up to the mountains—where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth!” ( Psalms 121:1-2)
Every squad leader, team leader, and staff member there, was along the trails and road cheering you on! Telling you, not how you got this, But how I can do this through Jesus and His ever giving strength can carry you to the end! “You can do everything through Christ, who strengthens you!” (Philippians 4:13) How confident they are in us, how amazing individuals we are and how God is fighting for us to succeed:) My team was the last group to run, and so every other person on my squad and even some members of the other squad were running along side me cheering me on! Encouraging me and calling me higher! Not judging me for not being first, not talking about how gross I look or how slowing I’m running, only yelling praises and praying for me! How amazing and even rare is that!! It blew me away that everyone wanted to call one another higher, and encourage each other in a difficult moment, after just 3 days of knowing one another!! God is so good! “Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.” ( 1 Thessalonians 5:11)
“May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had.” ( Romans 15:5)
The unity and community right from the start make me excited for these next 3 months ahead!
I am learning how to be more uplifting to one another, not to compare myself to others but know God loves me just the way I am and I don’t have to prove myself to Him.
Also, how to “Trust in the Lord with all my heart and not lean on my own understanding.” ( Proverbs 3:5)!!!!!!!!!!
I am not perfect, but I am good enough In my Father’s eyes:) So are you! God doesn’t call you to be perfect, He’s calling us to be available for change!
“For freedom that Christ has set you free!” ( Galatians 5:1)
