Thailand…

Sawadeeka! (Hello!)

A land of kindness, respect, and flavor.
A country dominated by respect for the king, the sex tourism industry, and Buddhism.

We  arrived here as Easter Sunday was just dawning.  A day where we celebrate the dawning of a new age, an age of grace, victory, and a Savior.  For us, a new season is dawning, the continent of Asia is all we have left on this Race.

As I think about my last 3 months out here, as I ponder Thailand, Vietnam, and Cambodia, I know that my adventure is not over.  In fact, in some ways, it is just beginning.  I have exited Africa more confident, more sure, and more trusting.  With that, I enter Thailand knowing that these months will be the highlight of my journey with God.

This week we have been meeting with staff from America who come out every quarter to check in on us.  My team, the Eagles, was told that we are a great team, that we have not yet peaked, and that Asia will be amazing for us.  I believe it.  I know it’s true.

But this month, we take a break from our team.  We journey out individually into ministries that call each of us.  We named ourselves the Eagles because we want to empower each of us in our own giftings so it makes sense that we set out alone to really work in our own areas.  Then we will come back together in May to pour into each other and encourage one another.

So this weekend, I will set out with Ashley Weaver, Erin Scritchfield, Julia Luu, and Kristin & Amanda for Selapume where we will work with a pastor doing sports ministry, lecturing, and visiting one of the lone leper colonies left in Thailand.
