It’s fleece was white as snow…

Yep, I said “Maddie” not “Mary.”  Here’s why:
Our contact took us to Giant’s Causeway, one of the four wonders of Europe!  I had three requests: see the Causeway, see a REAL castle, and find Irish sheep!!!  Yep, sheep made the list.  All day long, it was a HUGE source of laughter for my team.  I was obsessed!  “LOOK– real sheep!” “STOP!  I need a picture!!”  “Oh no, a hedge, I can’t see the sheep!” “America, I found Irish sheep!”  Nobody could understand why a Texas girl who lived on a ranch was so interested in finding sheep.  I couldn’t really explain either.  I just thought it was me having fun.

But, isn’t it funny how God uses these silly moments to get us where it matters?

The next day my team and I were discussing what we’d talk about in our next Praise & Worship session at the Lighthouse.  And what comes to  my mind?  Luke 15!  The Parable of the Lost Sheep!  That God would use the story of a shepherd who would search forever for that 1 lost sheep to hit my soul…  Oh, my God has a sense of humor!

How hard did I search for a real sheep but how often did I seek out those opportunities to meet real people?  How excited did I get to walk up to a sheep but run from the person who wanted to talk because I wanted to get to the store?  How many pictures did I take of the sheep but how many times have I told stories about how God moves in real lives?  Ouch!  That really brings it into perspective.

Lord, may I always remember the sheep and how important each one is to You.  May I always be ready to find that one lost sheep and may I let Your light shine through me.  In the name of Jesus.  Amen.
