Here are my major 3 takeaways.
1. Learning How To Be Interruptible
Someone comes up to you crying and you’re in the middle of something, do you say give me 2 minutes and I’ll be there for you? Or do you stop what you’re doing because people and relationships are more important for you. I’ve been praying for the Lord to teach me how to be more interruptible. One of my favorite Bible stories is how Jesus was walking on his way to heal Jarius’s daughter who was sick. But while he’s walking, a bleeding woman reaches out to touch his cloak. Jesus stops and heals her, and then asks her for her WHOLE LIFE STORY. Jesus is RELATIONAL. While Jesus was talking to the woman, Jarius’s daughter died. Jesus asks them why they have little faith and He raises his daughter from the dead.
This is how I strive to be. Not letting end goals get in the way of where my feet are planted. BE PRESENT! Love the season you’re in right now, even if it’s the hardest season you’ve ever walked. Be relational, check in with old friends. Call your grandma. When you’re late for work and someone needs help putting in their groceries, stop and help them. What would Jesus do?
“When she heard about Jesus, she came up behind him in the crowd and touched his cloak, because she thought, “If I just touch his clothes, I will be healed.” Immediately her bleeding stopped and she felt in her body that she was freed from her suffering.”
Mark 5:27-29
2. Learning that Heaven is the Ultimate Healing
Praying over people and not seeing healing can be discouraging. Losing loved ones hurts. We doubt God when we endure those pains. But why?
HEAVEN is the ultimate healing. Our life on earth is so short compared to our time in Heaven. In Heaven we will have new bodies, and every pain we felt on earth will be gone.
This makes me excited for the people we’ve lost, that they are up in Heaven fully healed from the pain they’ve felt on earth, and now they are singing and dancing with Jesus.
“He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”
Revelation 21:4
2. Learning that God is GOOD. Even if I don’t see the fruit, God is still moving, Always.
At Dunamis in Ecuador, I was amazed with God in how the family at my grandfathers church around 20 years ago planted a seed in a young street boy in Ecuador. How blessed am I to be able to serve at that young street boys ministry where Him and His family have been rescuing young girls from sex trafficking/ sexual abuse. I got to see the fruit in the Goodness of God in how my grandfathers obedience to send out a family to Ecuador, obedience of sharing the gospel to the street boy, and the obedience of starting a non-profit to rescue girls in Ecuador.
God’s goodness is so evident in that situation. But what about situations where I don’t see God?
The broken leg that you prayed healing over. Will it heal? How do I continue to ask God for healing over other people if I never see the fruit in it.
FAITH is the answer. God’s timing is always PERFECT. I know that WHEN He decides to heal someone, it has a bigger purpose. The purpose is always to build His kingdom and make more disciples. Healing a leg is a testimony of how GOOD God is, and maybe that’s just the thing the person with a broken leg needs.
God is GOOD! Keep saying YES to God and whatever He has for you and you’ll see the Goodness of God.
“Be thankful to Him, and bless His name. For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting.”
Psalm 100:4-5
thank you for praying for me and encouraging me in the best year of my life. I love you all.
