spiritual authority has been a big big topic God’s been putting on my heart for the past week-ish.
let me tell y’all a lil story (or a few) about what’s been going on.
i read the book the veil by blake k healy. it’s about how he has grown up as a “seer,” meaning he can see the spiritual world. he can see angels and demons all the time. in the book, he shares stories about it and then explains how we all have the capability to be able to see the spirit world, too.
seeing in the spirit has been something i’ve been familiar with, but i never understood that that’s what it was. i’ve seen demons and angels.
recently, people on the squad have been having bad dreams. every once in a while i’ll wake up and see a dark shadowy figure in front of the door to our room in the middle of the night staring right back at me. we’ve had a few break-ins at the base (to all the parents out there reading this, don’t panic! everyone is safe! no worries!).
one night one of the people on the squad had a panic attack. that’s where we as a squad decided to draw the line. the devil was attacking, and we were NOT having it. it made me realize that this is the devil’s desperate attempt to try and stop us bc we’re bringing the kingdom here!! he sees the work we’re doing and is throwing everything he can at us to try and stop us. but what’s amazing about it is that it always backfires right in his face #nottodaysatan
as a squad, we all came together and prayed over each room of the base. the person who had the panic attack completely surrendered a mental illness to God and he completely took it away from them! what! a! testimony!
God has given us the authority to cast out anything that’s not of him. we have the power to heal. we have the power to cast out demons. we have the power to declare truth. God gave us that power, and he wants us to use it to glorify him!
praying healing is something that i’ve known about for a while now, but haven’t ever really been comfortable with. thoughts always race through my mind like “what if they don’t get healed? what if they think i’m dumb, or worse, if God isn’t powerful enough?” tons and tons of doubts flying through my head. but what i’ve come to realize is that God WANTS to heal his children. and praying for healing is coming into agreement with is will. we can thank him for being the ultimate healer and cast out anything that’s not of him in someone’s body. since our body’s are temples of Christ and the devil can’t be in his presence, he isn’t allowed there. like at all. you have the authority to tell him to leave.
i’ve also learned that there’s no shame in praying healing over someone more than once. even Jesus did that. God respects perseverance and faith. if we keep praying for something, God recognizes that and blesses it. and even if he doesn’t heal immediately, i still choose to love him and trust that his plan is so much bigger and better than i can ever imagine!
it’s been amazing to watch everyone on our squad get comfortable with asking each other to pray healing over each other, whether it’s for a headache, a parasite, sore muscles, whatever! we’ve learned to recognize the authority God’s given us and use it.
i challenge you all to recognize it and use it, too.
. . .
we also had a teaching on spiritual authority a little while ago, and it was too dang good not to share! so here’s a few notes n things i got from it!
we’ve been given authority. we’ve been given GOD’S authority. through him we can cast out what’s not of him.
humility! integrity!
“rather, we have renounced secret and shameful ways; we do not use deception, nor do we distort the word of God. on the contrary, by setting forth the truth plainly we commend ourselves in everyone’s conscience as the sight of God.”
1 corinthians 4:2
God gives you things so you can use them for his glory!
Jesus wants to do amazing things through you — do you believe that?
“what, then, shall we say in response to these things? if God is for us, who can be against us?”
romans 8:31
put on the armor of God. you’re ready.
believe that Jesus did is enough for you.
guess what! his mercies are new every morning!
—> you’re WORTHY not bc of what you do, but bc of what he did. <—
you were his enemy and he still died for you. you’re called to love your enemies like that, too.
give what you receive !!!
you don’t have to choose the guilt instead of the joy!
your mistakes are not enough to stop the power of God.
“then Jesus came to them and said, “all authority in heaven and on earth has been given to you. therefore go and make disciples of all nations, pabpzing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything i have commanded you. and surely i am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
matthew 28:18-20
“whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will be dishonest with much. so if you have not been trustworthy in handling worldly wealth, who will trust you with true riches?”
luke 16:10-11
“after this, Jesus traveled about from one town and village to another, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom of God. the Twelve were with him and also some women who had been cured of evil spirits and diseases; mary (called magdelene) from whom seven demons had come out; joanna the wife of churza, the manager of herod’s household; susanna; and many others. these women were helping to support them out of their own means.”
luke 8:1-3
God calls us to heal and give our resources.
o b e d i e n c e
invest. serve. heal. pray.
spiritual authority is about IDENTITY
** shifting from behaving to beholding **
the Bible says when Jesus would go to a new town, EVERYONE would be healed
you know who you are —> you know what you have —> you know what you can give
“but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all judea and samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
acts 1:8
Jesus told his disciples to HEAL the sick, not just pray for them.
Jesus prayed twice for a blind man.
who are you to say no to the Lord when he’s asking you to do something?
healing is ALWAYS part of his will.
it’s not your job to heal, it’s his.
here’s some questions to think ask God about:
God, where have i said “i can’t?”
where do you say you’ll move? what truth do you want to speak?
so i know this was a lot and might be new to some of you, too. i just want to let you know that, as always, please let me know if you have any questions or anything!! i’d love love love to talk with y’all 🙂
with love, maddie
