I’m so excited! Training camp is just around the corner! I get to meet my squad! Training camp is basically a dry run of what the World Race will be. So we’ll be using our tents and all of our things shoved into our big backpacks just like we will when we leave in September. We’ll do lots of team building and problem-solving activities, as well.
I’ve been in the process of buying all the gear needed for this trip — a backpack, tent, dress-code appropriate clothing, etc. I’m not gonna lie, it’s been a little overwhelming!
The other day, I went into REI to try to find a big backpack. They had a ton of choices, and I was really excited! My mom and I were talking to an employee there, trying to figure out which bag would be best for my trip, and when she asked me questions, I didn’t know how to answer. I was COMPLETELY overwhelmed.
So basically, I went into REI looking to buy a backpack, and I left with a new pair of chacos 🙂
But don’t worry everyone, I found a bunch of stuff online that I’ll be able to use on the race (Amazon is a LIFESAVER!!)

Since then, I got to meet Nathan, another member of my squad (who’s from NC, too!), and he was able to give me some tips on what to get for this trip since he’s been on an Adventures in Missions trip before. I’ve also been trying to consistently keep my eyes and ears open to ways God is trying to show Himself in my life. I feel like we all have those “spiritual highs,” but it’s difficult to keep such a deep passion for the Lord all the time. I’m so excited to go to training camp and have a whole squad of people going through similar things as me who are eager to learn and share about the Lord!
