hey! one last guatemala blog :,) these are some of the songs that God has taught me a lot through during my time in guatemala.
i love how music, especially these worship songs, can put into words what i’m trying to say. a lot of times i’m like “wow, God you’re so good!” and i don’t know what else to say to praise him. worship music is such a great way for me to be able to express my gratitude towards him and pour out my heart to him.
some of these songs i’ve heard what seems like a zillion times, but God has worked to where every line seems brand new and something just clicks. it makes sense. it’s so much deeper and more intimate than i ever thought.

God keeps teaching me more and more about complete surrender. every time i think i’ve given everything to him, he digs up something else that i’m still holding on to. this song is such a declaration of surrender.

i doubt God’s faithfulness to his promises way more than i’d like to admit. this song reminds me about how he’s literally SO powerful and ALWAYS keeps his promises. he always has, he always will, he’s not going to make an exception with me.

my entire team STAYS singing this song all the time. these are the only lyrics than i can really ever remember, but i think they’re so incredibly powerful. it’s like the simple Gospel. God’s not trying to make everything complicated, he’s simple. he loves you, and wants you to love him, too. that’s pretty much it! these lyrics completely capture the innocence of childlike faith and i am here for it.

God’s taught me about how to sit still in his presence. we don’t always have to be having a conversation. he doesn’t need to be talking to me for me to know that i’m there. he trusts me with his silence. this song is perfect for just sitting and soaking in his love.

so nathan, one of our worship leaders on the squad, introduced the song “rest on us” by harvest and it was really good. and everyone just started listening to the rest of their album haha. and this is one of the other songs on there!
God brought this song to my attention ESPECIALLY during PVT (parent vision trip) when both my mom and dad came to visit me for a few days in guatemala. i kept trying to figure out what i could do to help my parents get the most out of it, but God gently reminded me that he’s got it all under control. i just need to sit and watch. me trying to help will only get in the way of him doing it his way, his perfect way.

praise of the week:
the men are doing different ministry a few hours away from the rest of the squad in a town near the coast of ecuador. it’s gonna be weird without them but i’m super excited for the chicas and men to have their own time together! hooray for unity! God’s gonna do big things and i’m so so excited.
