Towards the end of Guatemala we had a session about values. Values are so important because they create self awareness and they help you have a few core things that you constantly want to work out of. my values have helped me realize what I find important and what the Lord wants me to constantly keep on my heart. Values are something that you would “die on a hill for” and are usually shaped by your beliefs, family and community. Values help you align yourself for the vision that the Lord has for you. I wanted to take a second and talk about my values and what they mean to me. You might ask how did I come up with these things? Well first I wrote a list of character traits I want to have or that are important to me, it also included ways I want to treat others or want to be treated. It included things I am passionate about and then I continued to narrow them down. You can’t so many values but I limited them to my 4 core values, the ones I want to constantly operate out of. These values I always keep on my mind that way I know I am living a life of consistency and a life I am proud of.

My first value is to love. Everyday I want to love the Lord, love others, love myself and love creation.

My second value is to grow. I constantly want to recognize, express and manage how I feel. I want to have empathy for others and to always be moving towards bettering myself.

My third value is kindness. I always want to be friendly, generous and considerate towards others. I want to be warm and welcoming to everyone around me, making others feel the way the Lord makes me feel.

My fourth value is to always operate out of a positive spirit!! I want to radiate joy, uplift others and have a willing spirit to move where God calls me whatever the cost my be.

I think values are so cool and such an easy tool to evaluate who you want to be and ask yourself how can I be more like that person? How can I accomplish the ideas that the Lord has placed in my heart and always work out of that headspace. I want to encourage you to ask yourself some of those questions and maybe think more of what your values are!! this was just a short snippet of what we talked about but if you have questions or want a more detailed version I would love more to talk about it!!
