This morning I went to breakfast with one of my mentors, Camille, and was struck by the little foam heart that adorned the top of my latte. As I looked up from that little heart I saw an even bigger one sitting across from me. I sat there amazed thinking about the amount of love that the woman across from me pours out on a constant basis, not only for me, but for so many others as well. I wondered how it was possible for another human to love me as well and as fiercely as she does? Then something even more amazing hit me: God loves and cares for me even more than Camille does. He loves us more than our parents, siblings, grandparents, mentors, friends, and others do. He paid it all for us. He showed us the ultimate sign of love. And the most amazing thing is that the love He has for us never goes away. It never fades. It never lessens. It is always there strong as ever. This is something so mind-blowing to me, but I don’t think that we’re meant to understand everything all the time. I think that we are just meant to have faith.
Psalm 68:19 tells us that God thinks of us every single day. 2 Thessalonians 3:3 tells us that every hour God looks after us. 1 Peter 5:7 tells us that every minute God cares for us. And Jeremiah 31:3 tells us that every second God loves us. That is four promises every day that we have a God who thinks about, cares for, looks after and loves us. What an amazing and incredible God we have.
So, what does all this mean for me and my journey on the World Race? I think it means that there is someone (God) reminding me every day, hour, minute and second to be loving toward others. I think it is a reminder to not only on this trip, but in day to day life, strive to be more like Him. I wonder how that is going to look on the World Race. I wonder how it will look from country to country and person to person. I wonder how my heart will be shaped and molded into a heart that can love everyone I meet well, even when it’s hard.
My prayer for myself and my team is that we would begin now to prepare ourselves in the best way we can to love one another and others well. I pray that everywhere we go we would tell others of the ultimate love which can only be found through a relationship with Christ. I hope you, whoever it is that is reading this, would join with me in that prayer.
XOXO,
Maddie
