I need help.

There. I said it.  I need help.  And not just any help but YOUR help.  For those of you who know me, you know how rarely, if ever, those words come out of my mouth.  And no, I’m not asking you to grab something that fell 2 feet away from me.  I honestly need your help.

Here’s the deal.  I am 5 days away from my next financial deadline for the Race.  I need $2,500 by December 1st to meet the $11,000 mark.  Maybe you are shaking your head thinking it’s impossible, that it’s a lot of money to come up with in a short amount of time.  I would be lying if I said I didn’t have some hesitations too.  But if there is one thing I know and am continually being amazed by, it is that God is who He says He is.  He says that He will provide.  And when the creator of the universe says that He will provide, you trust him.

I’ve been fighting writing this blog for some time because asking for help is hard enough but what really makes me squirm in discomfort is asking for money.  I’ve reached out and asked indirectly for support, I’ve prayed that people would be lead to donate, I’ve fasted and listened to what God has to say.  And I’m finally going through with what He asked; that I be honest with my need.

God has been stripping me of my independence and exposing the hidden pride that has come from years of relying solely on myself.  For so long, I have worked tirelessly to ensure that I am not a burden to anyone.  I have pulled my own weight and carried my own burdens without letting people help me.  I have denied people the opportunity to love and support me in my relentless pursuit to have it all together.

But guess what? We are not created to do life on our own.  We need people to come around us and support us.  This is what the body of Christ is for and God is showing me in new ways what it looks like to lean into this truth.

God is doing incredible things around the world.  He is training an incredible group of pastors in Mozambique whose influence is both deep and wide.  He is raising up a generation of kids in Swaziland who will be the change the nation so desperately needs.  He is restoring long-term missionaries, bringing them familiarity and fresh energy to help spur them on in their ministries.  He is lavishing love on His children – whether that be in isolated villages in Mozambique, atop mountains in Swaziland, or in schools along the ocean in South Africa.

It still boggles my mind that God called me to go on this crazy adventure and be a witness for what He is doing around the world.  I invite you to prayerfully consider participating in this adventure with me by supporting me financially.  Help send me to Asia – specifically the Philippines, Malaysia, and Vietnam – so that I can continue to share what God is up to and help spread His love and grace to His beloved children.

$2500 in 5 days.

It IS possible with your help.  If you feel led to donate, click on the link on the left.  Any amount is a huge blessing 🙂
