HI!

The past two weeks, my team and I have been working with a local church in Cagayan. Our ministry consists of helping with bible studies, fellowship nights with the kids/teens of the community, and serving in anyway the church needs. Every day is different – the other day, we started our day off by playing softball with the local softball team which was interesting, to say the least. I hit the ball once and it was a foul ball. I’ve never really classified myself as a pro softball player so my ego wasn’t hurt too much. 😉 I was happy to give the kids a good ol’ laugh.

Later that afternoon, we went door to door of each house in the community. We started small talk and tried to get to know each family the best we could – asking them about their hobbies, what their favorite foods were, about their kids, etc. The language barrier got a little tricky, but thankfully we had a translator come with us.

We then asked for prayer requests. I was expecting to get mixed reactions – some people who were not super interested in getting prayed over, some who would just completely ignore us, and only a few who would be ecstatic over the fact that we wanted to pray over them. However, every single person welcomed us in, pulled out chairs, showed us around their homes, and treated us like queens. The people in this community know how to show love and respect. The prayer requests were mostly asking for overall health, financial stability, and for the typhoon that hit their homes a month ago to never hit again.

Long story short – when we prayed over these families, they were expecting for every prayer to be answered.

With absolutely no doubt in their minds, they had full faith they would be answered. They all believed in the power of prayer. Every inch of their soul knew how strong our God is. They knew that He wants to answer our prayers if it’s in His will.

Once the word spread that we were going door to door, people ran out to us to receive prayer. It was like we were Jesus himself.

One woman ran toward us with tears in her eyes, begging for us to pray over her back pain she has had for the past 3 months. She explained that she had gone to the doctor and tried everything that people had told her to do, but nothing changed.

Now, I will be honest, I have heard multiple healing stories, but I’ve never witnessed one. I hate to admit it, but every time I would hear one I would secretly think “oh that’s cool – doubt that’s legit”. That might be you right now as you read this and that’s fine!

JOKE WAS ON ME, THOUGH!

God healed this woman’s back in front of my eyes!!! I put my hand on her back and demanded that the pain would go away. I prayed that she would never feel that pain again. After a few minutes, she walked around and then tears started to well up in her eyes. She looked at me and my teammate and told us that she could no longer feel the pain. I was SHOOK.

That is our God, ladies and gentleman! Our strong, incredible, life-giving God.

The past two weeks, we have been trying our best to become familiar faces – learning each and every person’s name and loving them how Jesus loves us. It’s a good life over here. Not a lot to worry about and getting to spread the love of Jesus.

so much love,

Mace
