Chances are, if you’re reading this, you’re either a stranger, or my grandmother. (Hey Grammy) In that case, you should probably know a couple things about me.
I’m twenty years old, and was raised in various parts of North Mississippi. I am the oldest in what has been a recently growing family of two sisters and one brother. I’ve spent the past two and a half years studying nursing at Mississippi State. This fall I finished up my prereqs for nursing school, and while I knew my time at State was coming to a close, I wasn’t sure of the next move. Something didn’t sit right with me about immediately leaping into nursing school (maybe because I’m not quite sure that’s what I want to do yet), but as many times as my mom and dad would call and ask what my plan was, I still had no clue.
Then one night, I was playing on my phone before bed, like I always do, and something my roommate and I had been talking about came back to me. He had told me a friend of his was on this mission trip called the World Race. That night I decided to research it for myself. Admittedly, I may have stayed up a little past my bedtime that night, because the more I read, the more fascinated I became. A chance to travel the globe? A chance to serve in ways I’d never get the opportunity to at home? A chance to abandon self and discover His calling for me in my life? I’ve never heard His voice clearer than that night. So here’s where I am now, answering that call.
