My team & I are going to CHINA!
The visa process here in Mongolia for Chinese visas was rough. They only give out a certain unknown amount of foreigner tickets each Tuesday. The tricky part is there is no such thing as waiting your turn in line here in Mongolia. It’s kind of a free for all. My team and I left our hostel at 2am to wait in the foreigner line (slightly more organized than the local line) with the hope of securing a ticket for an appointment.
The wait outside was so cold. My teammate Hannah & I curled up in our sleeping bags and took a solid nap outside the embassy holding our teams spot in line until the sun came up. Hannah is also a midwest girl, so we could both manage the cold of the night.
I’m so happy to say that the wait was worth it and we all got appointments for the following day, Wednesday! By the time Wednesday rolled around we were all anxious to be in China and all agreed to expedite our visas to get them back the same day. We all got approved and got our visas back that night.
We’ve secured housing in China as well as train tickets to the border and can’t wait for this next adventure as a team!
