We made it to Guatemala! A quick update on our lives: we have a beautiful guest house where my team (Geronimo) and a girls team (Lavished Warriors) live. We have showers (hallelujah!), working bathrooms, a kitchen, beds and streets to run on in our gated community, more than any of us expected on the World Race. It takes over an hour to drive to our ministry everyday but the drive couldn’t be more beautiful! We pass by mountains, valleys and the most colorful buildings. Each day the scenery looks totally different. Some days it’s shrouded in mist, while others the sun peeks through clouds creating an orange backdrop. Houses are built into the sides of houses as if they grew there. In a nutshell, I’m obsessed with Guatemala. Saturday and Sunday are off days for us to explore the area or relax. We are extremely blessed!  The time I get to spend with my team every night is amazing. I keep thanking God that I am actually here. It’s unbelievable! My teammates each live their lives rooted in the love of Christ and encourage each other to do so. I feel like I’ve known these people for years and can completely be myself around them. It’s an amazing feeling knowing the people around you truly care about you and want to know you!

Last weekend was such a blessing as well! I got to spend the days in Antigua with my team. Sunday we went to church and had an amazing worship session in Spanish and English and the video message translated through radio. We spent the rest of the day in Antigua eating pizza, shopping in the market and marveling at the cute, colorful streets. Everyone was preparing for Guatemala’s independence day on monday. There was no school monday so we had an extra free day. We caught the bus to Antigua again to view a huge parade through the streets. We ran into some of our squad mates in Antigua as well! It was so encouraging to hear about the ministries they’ve been a part of for the past week. While sitting in a coffee shop in the Plaza, I met an Australian man who has been to 120 countries and writes articles for a living. I also got to try authentic Guatemalan food, something I’ve been itching to do since we arrived a week ago!Bargaining in the markets was stressful but a fun rush of adrenaline as well. Basically, I want to move to Antigua forever.

p.s. This blog should have been sent a week ago but wifi has been spotty! Sorry about that!

p.p.s.  I also can’t figure out how to post pictures on here so stay tuned for a picture blog in the future! (Once I figure it out)
