Hey all!! Happy Veteran’s Day! You guys reading this you know who you are (Papa Ray and Pop Pop) you guys rock.
Anyways!
Since we last talked, I have done a ridiculous amount of stuff. First of all being a ministry with children with cancer. We spent some sweet quality time with them and taught them a dance and colored in coloring books. They were so cute and joyful and their cheeks were absolutely pinchable.
Next, we got to go to a orphanage/ day care for just babies and it was the most amazing day EVER. Babies as far as the eye can see, just hanging around, waiting to be picked up and fawned over. I held a baby named Yadaira, the smartest baby in the entire world. She could imitate everything I did and was so attentive and totally transfixed with my every movement. I loved her little face with my whole heart.
We also went to a boy’s home for young boys who either got in trouble at some point or had special needs. Basically boys that no one is willing to take care of. It was sweet and fun and just quality time playing games with them and enjoying each other’s company.
We got to go to a teen ministry for almost like a youth group of kids and heard a sermon, worshipped, and shared a testimony from my teammate, Noah.
Yesterday we went to a really amazing church and spent the day in town.
Today, we went to the nursing home again and spent time with them coloring and playing games. A woman I met last week came and spent more time with us than ever. Her name is Luisa and she is a ridiculously joyful spirit, and a servant at heart. She thought my hair wrap was just string caught in my hair, so she graciously dedicated herself to helping me get it out (I had to tell her it was okay because it was supposed to be there.) Then, she offered to braid my hair for me because it was so hot and wanted to get it off of my neck. She brought smiles to all of our faces and continued to teach me how much happiness small acts of kindness can bring.
I’ve found, that being a missionary, I want to save the whole world. And I inadvertently think that the way to do that is by huge works and deeds that influence all 7 billion plus people on Earth. But, I’m constantly being shown that you don’t have to change the world, you just have to change someone’s world.
And Luisa, with her heart of gold, did more for my heartburn braiding my hair, than someone else could do with all the power and influence in the world.
Check back in soon!!
