I’m writing this letter to my home, The United States of America. For me being outside of my comfort of home for almost 6 months now has been the hardest but best thing that I have done.
But I’m writing this letter with a heavy heart, a heart that breaks and burdens for my fellow Americans. I look to my phone over the past months and see nothing but violence, turmoil and darkness settle upon our country. We let race, politics and religious views separate us from the love of God. I can see a nation who began and rooted itself in God but now has replaced that with earthly things that will not satisfy. I look all over social media and watch people bicker and argue over everything under the sun. I asked myself:
“God, why is this happening to my home? Why are we so lost? What could bring us back together as “”One Nation Under God?””.
These are the thoughts I have, as I began to pray and read scripture I came to a very sad realization. As men of God we are failing miserably. For me, back when I was in the states, I NEVER told or preached the gospel to anyone. I let my spirit succumb to fear and anxiety instead of courage and peace. This is what I see in our generation of men today. Men, in this time of struggle within our country, we need to step up and BODLY tell people of the good news. We need to encourage each other as brothers in Christ and be examples as the heads of our households of what a Son of God looks like.
A tangible of what a community of brothers in Christ looks like is the me and the other 3 men on my team. A guy named John Harbold during training camp gave us a very specific example of what that should look like. He said:
“You guys are 4 strong walls that surround and support this squad. If one of you falls then the rest of the squad will fall also. But if you all stay strong and press into what God has for you as men on this trip, you guys will support this squad and be an example to these ladies.”
This really hit home for me and yes it has been hard at times but this brotherhood I wouldn’t change for anything. We challenge each other, we call each other higher but more importantly we all have different gifts and use them to glorify God.
Now you don’t have to commit to take a year off to serve God to find a community of brothers in Christ. You just have to search them out. Look for them in you church and your community. Make weekly meetings and keep each other accountable within these groups.
Men of God the world needs us. Don’t cower to the enemy and the ways of this world. Be Bold, Be courageous, Be the son that God has called you to be.
“So keep up your courage, men, for I have faith in God that it will happen just as he told me.”
?? Acts? ?27:25? ?NIV??
Much love your brother in Christ,
Mack
