New Continent, New Country, New Ministry
Hey everyone!
Thank you for your prayers continually for me and my squad as we traveled to ASIA! We flew out of Johannesburg International Airport in South Africa. It took us about 13 hours to fly to Hong Kong, China. Then another 3 hours until we finally got to our final destination which is Cambodia. Both flights were very smooth and enjoyable but for me I can never sleep on flights so I just stayed up and watched around 7 movies…
With a new continent come new opportunities, new challenges and new people. All are good but definitely will take some getting used to coming straight from Africa.
Our Ministry this month looks a lot different than any other since it is “MANistry” or Men’s Ministry Month for us guys on B Squad. Men’s Ministry this month will be held at Lighthouse Ministries here in Battambang, Cambodia. Lighthouse is a boys and girls home that house kids and teach them a variety of life skills while implementing Jesus into their daily lives. It seem’s like it will be a very fun and enjoyable month especially with working a long side and learning from Rafael. He is a World Race Alum who works a lot as the DJ and Sound for the bands back at the office in Gainesville, Georgia. I’m excited to see what he has in store to teach us throughout this month.
With a new country and continent comes a lot more culture and things to be aware of while we are here. One of the biggest one is out volume level as guests in this country. Normal voice level here in Asia can be very disrespectful or in Thailand especially a crime. So with that I will definitely be very mindful about my surroundings and where I am at. Another big one is taking your shoes and hats off when entering into a home. They do this because their is a lot of various that can be on your shoes, so they don’t want you tracking that back into the home. Another big thing would be a slight bow when meeting people for the first time. This is especially important when meeting older people.
With all that to say we are all very excited for the new and upcoming countries here in Asia. Can’t wait to see what God has in store. Also very excited for the improved Wifi situation!
Much Love,
Mack
