I don't know what's different about the sky in Nicaragua, but the sunsets here on Ometepe Island are absolutely ridiculous. We're talking incredibly beautiful. Breathtaking. Jaw dropping. I've never really seen anything like it with this kind of consistency. And I have no idea why. (I'm sure there's some genius explanation for it involving the equator, or atmospheric pressure or chemistry, biology and physics….but I slept through those classes…so I'm gonna go with, "The sunsets are crazy here because it's tropical. You know, like in a postcard.")
The other evening in particular was absolutely astounding. I was walking back to the Children's Center from town and saw a glimmer of golden sunlight through the trees against a deeply rich blue sky. I immediately ran the rest of the way in order to grab my camera before it was all over and gone. I snagged the camera, went outside, looked up and saw everything lit up pink and red and orange and yellow. Huge clouds were lit up like neon. I hopped the barbed wire fence and ran out into the bean field next door. And I stayed out there for the next 40 minutes in awe. In total awe of God's beauty and creativity. It was spectacular.
But as the great Levar Burton said, "Don't just take my word for it."

Yup, God is good. Really, really good.
Other Otherness:
It's our last week here. We're still working on digging up rocks, building more walls, digging up sand to use for concrete, unloading the sand for the concrete and working in the garden. We've gotten to really know the kids and have fallen completely in love with them. (It's going to be tough to leave.) We've been praying for and over them, specifically for a couple we think are heavily oppressed by our enemy. If you would, please send up prayers for Jimmy and Daryl, both of whom are so incredibly beautiful, but so in bondage to the enemy…and they don't even know it. Please lift up those two guys…they're awesome and need us to rally for them.
Also….MY TEAMMATE ALANA LUSTED NEEDS HELP!!! Alana is behind on her funding, and needs to bring in just over $4,500 by January. (We're trying to make a video for her, to rally support, but wanted to give you guys a heads up. ) Please, please, please think and pray about contributing to her. She is crazy awesome, and has been given a wonderful heart for foreign missions. We need her to stick with us this year. She's a huge asset to the team…and dang gina….she's just so fun to be around. So, check out the link below to get to know her a little more, to read her blogs, and to help God's kingdom by contributing financial resources. Woo woo!!! Love you guys!!!
