I know the updates have been few and far between lately. So here are the bullet points to catch you up to speed:
* I am one of three Squad Leaders for The World Race D-Squad.
* We just finished up four days of "Launch" in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.
* We're now in Antigua, Guatemala (1 hour behind the East Coast.) This was also the first city I went to when I originally was on the race last year.
* As Squad leaders, our time we'll be spent visiting the six D-Squad teams placed throughout each country we visit.
* As Squad leaders, we're only serving in the field for 4 months, so I'll be home in May after having vistied Central America and Eastern Europe.
That should be everything you need to know. I will continue to update this blog over the next 4 months. But for now, I'd just like to say it's odd to be back in Antigua. Seeing places where my original World Race team took photos. Eating food that was once so foreign, but now craved like a familiar midnight snack. Being in a place with people who don't share memories of it with me. It's odd.
It's also odd because I never expected to come back here. Oh, maybe one day I did. Maybe on a honeymoon or much needed personal vacation or something. Even then it was more of an ethereal dream than an actual thought. But here I am. And not much more than one year later.
I guess I thought God only had me in this place once, for a short time, never really to return. But here I am. In a place I never really expected to be in again. In a role I definitely never expected to be in. But here I am. He brought me here.
And for that, I am surprised, honored and thankful.
