Hiyyaa everyone! I’m writing this post because I want to share some things that God has placed on my heart and in my thoughts that I just can’t keep to myself. Why keep his words bottled up amirite??? Made to share with allll..
So I was at Passion City Church this past Sunday, and the topic was confidence. This sermon kinda hit me hard, and I wasn’t ready for it haha. This blog is going to be based off of how I interpreted the notes I scribbled down while the preacher was spittin’ some serious fire. Hope ya enjoy;))
Storms. You here about them. You see them. You feel them. You talk about them. We see the damage they cause. See, I’m talking about literal storms that occur in nature. But, that word definitely has a double meaning. Ever think about your personal struggles as being storms? Feeling like you are constantly being tossed around, wave after wave, not being able to get out of the in-zone..I’ve quite literally been stuck in that white foamy area of the ocean, being smacked in the face by the breaking waves, yeah its not fun. At all. Sooo what do storms and confidence have in common?? welllll…
Lets first look at some scripture. In Matthew 14:22-32, the disciples are on the water, fishing as they usually did. They saw a figure walking on the water, and they became frightened and cried out in fear. Jesus said,” Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.” Peter was like, well prove it Jesus…let me walk to you on the water. Peter hopped out of the boat and began walking towards Jesus, but Peter panicked when he saw the storm approaching him. He began sinking, crying out for help, Jesus grabbed him by the hand and pulled him back into the boat. The storm died down.
So if you read those verses a couple of times, you will notice that Jesus directed the disciples straight into a storm. Why in the world would he do that? Well I have come to the conclusion that God sends storms our way to change something in us, and to allow us to grow and crave Him and just need Him. He knows the outcome of that storm!!! He knows exactly what is going to happen. He knows what He is going to change in us. He wants us to experience the desperateness we feel when we are in the midst of a crisis because He wants us to realize that He is always near. He is in that current that is pulling us far far away from the shore. He is with us in the boat!!!! Jesus pulled Peter up into the boat when Peter cried out!! He is never far away. He is with us in every single situation.
As the scripture goes on, it talks about how the disciples began praising Jesus in the boat. Well the situation does seem pretty praise worthy. I mean, Jesus spoke a word and the storm seized and BOOM Peter and all the disciples are saved!!! They were 100% confident that Jesus was the son of God after that little episode! SEE, that is what God wants us to have! HE WANTS US TO HAVE 10000% CONFIDENCE THAT HE WILL GET US THROUGH EVERY STORM HE SENDS OUR WAY. He wants us to be so confident, that we are not even phased by the craziness of the situation because we have been through it before. We will face so so many storms, but we should have confidence each time because God will show up every time, He showed up last time, why not be completely confident that He will show up this time??
We are never alone. He will not leave us. He will not forsake us. Have faith.Have courage. Be brave. BE CONFIDENT. Look that next storm dead in the eyes, and know that you will overcome it because we worship a God that has overcome the world.
There’s a song that sums up everything I just wrote..Do it Again by Elevation Worship. The words are truly amazing. Some words I want to leave you guys with are from this song.
“You made a way when there was no way, and I believe, I’ll see you do it again. I’ll see you do it again.”
“This is my confidence, you never fail”
Well this is now the end!!! Thank you guys for reading my 2nd blog post:) Prayers and prayers and prayers are so very welcome and appreciated. Thank you everyone for the endless support! Wish I could personally hug all of y’all’s necks.
Until next time<3
