sooo you’ve all probably been wondering what I’ve been doing over in Cambodia these days.. well I’m finally letting you know!! In our tin roof room, we slept in bunk beds under mosquito nets. It’s super stuffy and hot but it gets the job done. Training camp is put to use as we took cold bucket showers. We rode a tuk tuk to the restaurant every day for lunch and dinner, until the tuk tuk broke.. we then walked through the rice fields. Unless it’s raining, then someone usually brings it to us. The restaurant is outside & there’s cute little huts with low tables you sit criss cross applesauce at. Vuthy’s parents own it & cook real good food.
Here are some foods I’ve been eating: dragon fruit (I don’t like bc it has barely any taste), water melon, pineapple!!, pomegranate, apple, yellow & green oranges, grapes, lots of bananas (fried bananas are the best!!!), sweet and crispy pancakes, waffles, little balls that taste like egg rolls, fried rice, (white rice every single day for lunch and dinner), pork, fried chicken, fish, French fries (not as good as my granny’s, but still good), applebanana smoothie.
At the market across the street, you can get 8 vanilla cookies for 25¢ & a bag of cola for 25¢. Also they have a rice crispy chocolate bar that I love called Fullo Blasto for only 25¢! I am eating so well and I’m really happy with all the yummy food!
&&& ministry: Monday-Friday we woke up & some of my team taught morning English classes while the rest of us went on home visits. In the home visits, we got to speak with some of the community & pour encouragement into their lives & walks with the Lord. It was beautiful to meet with people who have a passion for the Lord in a country where it’s really hard to be a christian & it was also super beautiful to meet with people who didn’t know the Lord & pray deeply for them. In the afternoons, we each taught an English class for a few hours. At times, teaching English to children who speak a separate language was really hard & frustrating but the joy in their smiles from our love made it so worthwhile. The girls brought me bouquets Of flowers each day & the boys taught me a little Khmer. It ended up being a blast! We also had one night class to teach before dinner. Each night we would either worship or devotion with the staff whom we got to know pretty well. We realized that our ministry was not only teaching English but also giving the staff rest & encouragement. A christian community is hard to gather in Cambodia where most of the people are Buddhist, so it was a blessing to be able to encourage the staff in their walk with the Lord. They are beautiful people and work oh so hard.
On Saturday’s, we took a day off & went to the beach with some of the staff. The beach was so beautiful & so much fun!
Sunday’s were really fun days, we had church service first. Em & Jaz shared their testimonies & one Sunday, I gave a sermon on the healthy church!! Once church was over, we either hung out or we mixed cement (thank you Honduras & Christ Chapel for preparing me) & prayed for the sick. Later in the day we had Kids Club which is a little Bible Club for the children of the village. We did skits & action songs, & games. We all enjoyed this time so so much! Sundays were lots of fun!
I think my favorite thing was playing soccer barefoot in the rain with the kids! We screamed, ran, slipped & fell, we laughed so so much!
Our ministry host Vuthy has a soccer team & went to cheer on a few of their games. We had so much fun cheering on the team, we got our own customized uniforms & played a little game with them!! Fútbol now has a piece of my heart!
I am so blessed to have been a part of this wonderful ministry & love the people a part of it so so much! I have a really good God & I am so thankful for that!
Please be in prayer for the ministry as they continue their journey! Thank you lots!
We are now in Thailand & my team is headed to our next ministry today & we could not be more excited to see what lies in our next ministry! Pray for safe travels please! Thank you for your support always! love, Lyric ???
